How to play Forty Thieves Solitaire
Try Forty Thieves Solitaire at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Build eight suit foundations from ace to king. Use the example below to understand a decision. Keep the instructions close while learning this activity. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
Two decks, ten columns, single-pass stock, no recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.
A careful first round
Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Make the next step deliberately.
Your goal
Build eight suit foundations from ace to king. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Review the board or playing area as it changes.
Step by step
- Move one card at a time; build down in the same suit. Empty columns accept one card.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Controls
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.
A useful example
A club 5 can move onto a club 6, but a whole run cannot move together. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Read the matching step again.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
